Neuveville Nursery School
Fribourg, competition 2015
with Andrea Semadeni

The Neuveville nursery school project forms a sequence of three connected pavillion-like volumes in the yard of the old school. The school rooms in the ground floor all enjoy a direct access to the garden. They are also connected between each other, enabling them to be be used as separate class rooms, but also as one continous playground landscape. The diagonal offset of the volumes guarantees natural light from at least two sides for each room.
The architecture of "little houses" expresses its nature as a building for little children. The colorful roof structure adds a playful element which can also be read as a reference to the roof landscape of the surrounding old town.
